Last week commissioning was completed on the urgent replacement air heater for the OCD Horotiu site. The project was awarded to Windsor after one of the two existing overseas supplied units failed.
Windsor offered a TT144-230, a two pass air heater with recuperator that was sized to replace both the existing air heaters on site. The project was planned for an ambitious 22 week to completion timeline.
Overall the project was a great success, and we were able to accelerate our delivery timeline to a record delivery time of 21 weeks. The fast tracked project did not mean a lower quality, as commissioning data proved the air heater to be even more efficient than expected at an incredible 96% efficiency (NCV basis). This is due to the addition of a recuperator to preheat combustion air by use of the exhaust flue gas. OCD reported a large drop in their next fuel bill and report that the site now has the lowest energy input per kg of dried product of all of its sites.
