Site construction is well advancing on Fonterra Waitoa as we have just completed the boiler lift!

The final assembled weight of the boiler was approx. 110 tonnes. A crawler crane in a “superlift” configuration was required, with assistance from a secondary tailing crane to rotate the boiler mid-air.

Once the boiler is in place, the crane needs to keep the boiler supported while the team on the ground weld the feet into place.

Overall the operation went very smoothly, and even though Windsor has completed lifts like these many times before, it’s always a thrilling manoeuvre to watch. Congratulations to the whole team!
